Hostomel Animal Shelter

The animals at the Hostomel shelter undergo vaccinations and sterilization. It also hosts the largest veterinary station and hospital in Ukraine, where homeless animals are sterilized.

Sirius – Shelter for Homeless Animals
Sirius is the largest shelter for homeless animals in Ukraine, founded in 2000. From the very beginning, its activities have been supported by charitable donations. Over the years, more than 5,000 animals have found their owners. Currently, over 3,000 dogs and cats live at Sirius, and all of them are sterilized.

Gaia Animal Shelter
Gaia presents itself as a small family that does everything possible to help animals. The organization has its own website where you can learn more about each of their residents. All animals rescued from the streets or dangerous conditions have been sterilized, vaccinated, and have veterinary passports. Cats are trained to use a litter box, and dogs are taught to go for walks.
The shelter offers a trial period: if your new friend isn’t a good fit, you can return them, or they will help you find a better match.

Good Hands Animal Assistance Center
The Good Hands Animal Assistance Center focuses on regulating the population of homeless animals, including catching, sterilizing, and finding homes for disabled animals, puppies, kittens, and animals requiring constant care or post-surgery recovery.
On the center’s website, you can choose your future friend. The site features photos of hundreds of dogs and cats, with detailed information about each animal’s condition and needs.

Home-type Mini-Shelter Enclosure No. 1
Over the past five years, the Enclosure No. 1 home-type mini-shelter has managed to rescue, treat, and rehome over 600 animals with families.
Currently, the shelter specializes in caring for German and Eastern European shepherds. The dogs are rescued from the streets, abandoned houses or properties, and from irresponsible owners. Most of them arrive in need of medical care, often injured or emaciated. Before being placed with a new family, the dogs undergo extensive rehabilitation and re-education. When meeting the animal, all details about its health and behavioral traits will be provided.

Happy Paw Animal Assistance Fund
The Happy Paw Animal Assistance Fund started its operations in 2012, with the goal of supporting homeless animal shelters. In 2016, the organization built its own shelter. Some of the fund’s initiatives include Reading with Furry Friends, charity Dog Runs, and Lessons of Kindness that promote humane treatment of animals.
Happy Paw also organized dog walking areas in Kyiv and implemented an affordable sterilization project for low-income citizens, among other socially important programs.
